Advent

Go tell it on the mountain (Dec 11)

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!”” Romans 10:14-15
The Christmas story is the ultimate story of good news. It is the story of God’s solution to the problem caused by our sin. It is the story of God with us, moving into our neighbourhood to seek and to save us while we were dead in our rebellion. It is the story of hope for all mankind. It is the story of the Father’s love for us. That is why we celebrate at Christmas, but there are many who do not know the hope we have. there are many who have not had that eternity changing encounter with the love of God yet.
We who know the joy of forgiveness of sins made possible by the death of Jesus in our place need to go and tell those who have not heard. Especially at Christmas as we remember Jesus’ birth we need to do all we can to tell those around us what it means for us, and what it can mean for them too if they call on Jesus in faith. We are not just called to live good lives keeping our faith to ourselves – we are called to go to the ends of the earth making disciples of every nation.
So this Christmas let’s resolve to not be content with just enjoying things the way we usually do. Let’s resolve to make much of Jesus this year. To publicly declare what He has done for us, to go and tell it on the mountains, over the hills and everywhere. Go, and make disciples. Go, and proclaim that Christ has been born to bring us God’s salvation. Go, and let your feet be beautiful as you preach good news to all you meet this Christmas season.
